Switchblade UI app

Im possible the only person on here with a razer deathstalker ultimate keyboard, but there was a UDK app released not too long ago for the switchblade UI and i find its really useful, but could do with improvements

Would it be possible to get an app for rocket?
the OLED keys with the icons are fine, but the screen should be used to give performance information form the engine, and have the OLED keys 1 click for building the level, lightmass etc.

You guys are busy with other things right now, but if this was released along side the public release of rocket that would be great, becuase there are 1000s of people with these keyboards + laptops with the switchblade. if any of the epic team have one of these and have used the photoshop app , you understand how much better it makes things.

If anyone at epic has been looking at doing this, please do! you have one rocketeer here ready!

Hey Marc, can you link to the UDK application you’re using for the keyboard? I’d like to check it out, as I’m not exactly sure which one it is.

I can’t link it directly, but if you open up the synapse, go to apps(will ask to terminate just click yes, then click get more apps, somewhere in the list will be the "Unreal development kit (UDK) " app

Ah, I guess I’ll need that keyboard to access that. I currently don’t have it.

Hey Marc,

We authored UE4 in such a way that such an application should be easy to create. Have you considered writing it yourself and providing feedback on the whole process to Epic?

We would love to know what sort of experience you have while doing this, so please keep us in the loop and let us know how it goes.

Cheers!

I got the SDK provided by razer, which isn’t much other than a few bits a bobs to interface with the hardware through visual studio, but it seems i need VS professional 2010, which costs money :frowning:

ftp://ftp.epicgames.com/FTP_Dropbox/Linkinworm-SBUI-Mockup.jpg this is something i mocked up as to what my idea could have been, or the general idea to what the switchblade UI should do to make the experience with rocket fluid and useful.

If anyone at epic was able to come up with something as I’m sure you guys have VS pro tools, id be happy to test it out.

In case anyone doesn’t know what the switchblade ui offers, it has 10 OLED keys that can be programmed with custom icons and allow switching to new modes within the app, the screen is basically a external screen, that isn’t part of the windows desktop monitor array, but offers 4 point touch.

You can see from my mockup how it could benefit people with this type of hardware, people who own the razer pro notebook also have this feature

You should be able to use the free version of visual studio, “visual studio express”, to build for rocket.

Cheers!

Well, apparently some headers and MFC is missing from the express version, but joat( form irc channel not sure what his real name is) linked me to some stuff that should allow me to get that working in the express version, hopefully the work around doesn’t stop anything compileing
