My map has disappeared, and has been replaced by the starting content(chairs and the table)

I closed my project after trying to export from MAYA to unreal. I opened it again to find that my main map was gone, some other levels were there, but I can’t seem to find the main level I used- it has been replaced by a thing called “minimal default” which consists of the UE4 starter content table and chairs. So basically I want to know how I can restore my original via autosaves, or log files or whatever, anything would help as I haven’t backed the project up in a while.

UE 4.12.5

Maybe you just didn’t set the editor default map(project Settings → Maps & Modes). Have you looked in the content browser to see if your map is still there? If yes, you just can open it and set it as your default map.

If not you can look in the “Saved\Backup” folder and hope it is there.

The map I’m talking about was not really a level. It was the default area when I opened up the project, I don’t remember there being anything in the content browser that led me back to the level- I think I had to close the project and reopen it to get back to the map that’s gone. All I see now is an empty “HLOD” folder, I don’t what this is. And all my other content is still here- everything except the landscape I created.

Did you save the map when closing unreal?
And have you ever closed and started that project before?

I have closed it before. And I am pretty sure I saved it, I have been working on this project for a couple months now( its for education).

Listen, I’ve decided to start again- which is not as bas as it sounds. So I won’t need anymore help, but anyway, thanks for the help.
