Why does packaging my game fail?

I didn’t have any problems with packaging a game before, but now I get an error saying I don’t have a valid compiler.
I have VS2012 and VS2013 though and I can compile gamecode fine, using VS2013.

Here’s the full log:

http://107.161.22.27/paste/texts/DewPrototype-backup-2014.06.19-16.13.33.log

edit: I think I should mention that I actually did encounter problems with compiling gamecode, which I fixed by manually adding $(LibraryPath) to the projects Library Directories and $(VC_IncludePath);$(WindowsSDK_IncludePath); to the include directories. I have no idea why those were gone.

Maybe something is wrong with VS? I already tried the ‘Repair’ option on the VS (un)installer.

Update:

We packaged that project on another pc. I’m now working on a new project with 4.4.3 and encounter the same problem though.
I’m attaching the log (here). Looks like it can’t find MSBuild.exe? I don’t know how to fix it, obviously.

I hope this edit bumps my question.

Edit 2:
Meanwhile, at engine version 4.6.1, I still have this problem. “You are attempting to compile on a machine that does not have a supported compiler!” even though I can compile code fine in the editor, just not package and ship.
Log of this here.

Howdy Shrekleton,

Thank you for reporting this error that you are seeing when packaging. I am going to need a bit more information before i begin looking into this issue. It seems that the second log file did not get attached. Also, would you happen to have your antivirus running when attempting to package or while running the Editor?

A couple of other users have seen errors when they have had there antivirus on.

Thanks and have a great day!

Thanks, I have fixed the second log link and added a more recent log. I have also just attempted to package the game having my anti-virus (MSE) turned off, and UAC turned off, with no success.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Thanks and have an amazing day :^D

If you go into the launcher and click on the Library tag, you should see the engine versions that you are currently using. To the right of the Launch option, you should a dropdown arrow. From that dropdown, click on verify. This may help clear up any errors that may have come about when downloading the engine.

If this doesn’t help with the project, would you be able to test and see if you are able to package a blank template project?

Thanks!

Alright, ran the verify process again, which did not fix the problem. However, I then created an empty project and packaged this project using the 64-bit option (32-bit was greyed out), and this succeeded. One thing I should note is that for my own project, the 32-bit option was the only one available, so I was using that the whole time.

When you were using VS2013 to compile your project, how did you have your solution configured and your solution configured?

On the old project (with UE 4.1.2), I compiled from inside VS with the Development_Editor configuration, x64, with default generated settings except that I once added those lib/include paths as stated in the original post (though looking at the solution now, they are blank. I haven’t tried recompiling this one in a while because the project isn’t active anymore), I could provide screenshots of specific sections if you need them.

Of course, now I simply compile from inside the editor, the solution of the currently active project has DebugGame_Editor as active configuration and the platform is set to x64.

Hey Shrekleton,

Sorry about the lack of a response. Any screenshots that may be helpful to decipher what may be occurring would be great?

Have you by chance tested this issue on the new 4.7 preview 7 build of UE4?

Thanks!

Howdy Shrekleton,

Just wanted to check in with and see if the issue has still been occurring. If so, would you be able to include the information asked for in the previous post? any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and have a great day!

I haven’t tried the 4.7 builds. About the screenshots, I meant to ask of which sections/settings specifically screenshots might be useful to you, but here’s an overview ( http://i.snag.gy/0sz2x.jpg ).
I’m considering getting a clean install of Windows 7 and all software, I have a feeling that can help with this issue as well. If I do I’ll post the result.

Hey Shrekelton,

I think a clean install of Windows may help out to clear the error that you have been seeing. Be sure to let me know when you get the chance so that i may be able to further investigate.

Also, Just wanted to let you know that 4.7 has been released. If you happened to try your project on the build, please be sure to let me know if you hit any errors as well.

Thanks!
