Root motion not applied when used in montage

I have a root motion animation that shows up fine in persona (root motion applied). It also works when used as an animation in anim blueprint. But when using the animation in a montage and assigning the monatge to a slot, the animation plays, but the root motion is not applied to the capsule. My anim BP root motion mode is set to root motion from everything.

Is this intended behaviour or is there special configuration required?
