Leaving sprite shadow-like behind

Hi everyone!

I’m trying to learn UE on my free time by replicating an old favorite game of mine. Megaman.
I’m doing the dash and everything is going ok so far but I wanted to replicate the dash effect.

To be honest I don’t even know where to start. I was looking at materials and even saw the basic tutorial they have on the youtube channel but I can’t see how I can achieve this effect using it. For what I can tell, when you dash, the sprite is drawn behind it a few times in different shades of blue. And still goes on for a little while after its done with the animation.

I just want to know where to start, things I should try out… mostly point me in the right direction because I don’t even know what to google to eventually get there, also tutorials or anything entry level related to it. Anything you can give me to start solving this will do for me. As a note I’m using Paper2D and C++, just in case someone wanted to know.
