Assigning material to skeletal mesh

This may be a dumb question, but I want to apply a material to my skeletal mesh. I have the mesh separated into separate objects inside of Blender. I want to be able to apply a material to only some of those objects. I am not sure if I would do this in Blender or in UE4.

Thanks for the response. My mesh has two material slots by default; would I add more for each separate object that the mesh contains? I don’t have a lot of experience with this part of the process.

You do it in Blender. In UE4 you can assign Materials freely to existing Material IDs of the imported Model =) Play around a bit on a simple Cube or something it should be pretty straight forward.

Depends what you want to achive but yes. If you want to use the same Material on Multiple Parts assign the same Material ID inside Blender. Like I said its best for you to Play around with something simple like a Cube or Multiple to get a feel for it. You can throw them away afterwards.

Thats the way you learn the Process. Try, Observe and understand what you did and everything will make sense.
