Create 1 materal with 2 differnt textures to diffuse for multisub(multitexture) mesh

What would be great is if we could create one material and have multiple node bases that we assign an id, of either a name or number, then apply multiple materials to one mesh, like trees, where you would have leaf cards and the trunk as 2 separate textures (like the default trees in UDK).

this would save, needing loads of materials for some objects that have 3 or 4 different materials, so everything would be a bit cleaner as you would have your one material for one object. Just like 3dsmax it should be assign the multisub material to the object then assign the ID to whcih ever part.
