Image Sequence Output Corrupt/Glitched frames

Hello everyone

I’ve been using Matinee image sequence output for a long time now to create nice quality videos as fast as possible. Since the beginning that this issue appeared in both “High Resolution Screenshot” and .jpg and .png image sequence (mostly jpeg for size), more often in HiResScreenShot because I multiply up to 4x, but it’s not a problem to take another one, it is a problem for video frames because I’m doing 10k+ frames sometimes, and some of them will be glitched, making it impossible to import them to after effects or another editing software or it just gets an error while rendering the video.

This happened when I was running with 2x980Ti and it still happens now with 1x1080, I suppose it’s a very demanding task and well… this could happen, or could it be a hardware problem? (I would exclude the GPU in this case, but then I wouldn’t know where to start, it’s a high end machine and I think something is off but I don’t have enough knowledge to diagnose ).

Either way, has anyone encountered this issue? Because I didn’t find any topic with similar problems searching for the keywords “glitch” and “corrupt” along with image sequence, matinee, etc.

I’ve also checked the “close editor during capture” and I couldn’t get the DUMPMOVIE and BENCHMARK command lines to work properly through the bat file. However, these glitches make it look like the GPU doesn’t finish the frame, even though it is supposed to.

I’ve gone with Full HD most of the time, and it would take less time to re-render and replace the faulty frames, but this one is going to play on a 4k monitor so it would be nice to have a proper resolution for such a screen and it’s not going very well.

jpeg sequence exported in 4k (200% screen resolution in post process), with a single GTX1080

Single High Res screenshots somewhere between 4k and 8k, these were taken some months ago with the 2x980Ti setup, the image sequence doesn’t seem to produce the colorful glitches

Thank you in advance

Still exists. Tested with 1080Ti and some crazy settings.

I recently had similar corrupted frames, randomly during png sequence capture.

Our issue ended up being texture sizes were too big. We were rendering a detailed city scene.

I used the statistics window to find out which textures were using the most resources, and adjusted as necessary.

I also found a bunch of items left in the scene but set to invisible. The textures for those actors were still being loaded during rendering.

Spent 30 minutes reducing texture sizes. No more random glitchy frames.

Hope that helps someone else.

This problem is still exist in UE 5.3.2 My rendered files become corrupted and some of them half rendered even in viewport it was fully rendered. I spent too many hours to fix this. I tried every method, including cleaning memory manually. I tried fixed frame rate, tried sequencer advanced settings, tried tick source every possible combination. Nothing works. It was true if i downscale the texture size from 8k to 4k, there is some progress, but problem still existed.

Finally i discovered that it was the png format problem! If you render as exr or any other format, there will be no corrupted files! If anyone still have this problem, guys dont use png as output format. I dont know maybe somehow my png format corrupted from codecs or something else, but at the end, using PNG format as seqeuncer output crates unfinished corrupted rendered files.
