Sockets made in unreal on static mesh's being deleted on re-import

steps to reproduce:

  1. import a static mesh
  2. create a socket
  3. save static mesh
  4. re-import the static mesh by either right clicking on the mesh in the content browser or other re-import means
    Expected outcome: mesh is updated without disturbing the sockets
    current Result: sockets are deleted

I am using 4.15.1-3340871
