Sending Light Builds to a Render Farm

Hello,

I am the lab manager for Purdue University’s Games Innovation Lab. I have been tasked with figuring out if we can send Swarm light build data to our department’s render farm. The farm is currently under-utilized, so we figured that this would be the perfect use for it at this time. The Farm is 5 nodes in size across a 10GB network, that have to be interacted with through a Linux terminal.

As some of our projects get bigger/more complex, we may need the extra power so that we don’t have to wait for a long time to test production level lighting. Basically I’ll have to tell the Farm’s support team what will need to move onto/modify on these 5 machines, combined with a “fee” that they will charge us for doing that.

So my questions are:
1. Do these two tutorials still apply? or is there a more accurate tutorial made recently?

2. In everyone’s opinion would this be a good use of our render farm within UE4?

3. Has anyone had success with this within 15 yet?

I basically have to make doubly sure as the fee is big.
