Editor crashes when opening BPs

Hello,

I removed the main menu (default editor map) and got my project to open. However, now whenever I click on various types of BP, from widgets to characters the editor crashes.

What is strange is I see UE4 attempting to run from D:\ however my main drive is C:\ (i don’t even have any drive D:\ plugged in)…

This is the 2nd this has happened to me, the first time I deleted the main menu map and all of the BP’s that were in it and completely remade them from scratch, and everything was fine until this afternoon tried to re-open the project after successfully opening/working on it this morning…

Hey -

When you say main menu, are you referring to the default Twin Stick level when the project is created? Were the blueprints you’re trying to open referenced by the deleted level? Are you able to reproduce the crash in a new project?

The crash itself appears to be related to unread text, do you have any special characters in your project path / blueprint names / blueprint components / blueprint property names?

I have some imported text fonts, but no special ascii characters (my project is 99% blueprint) with 2 little c++ scripts…

also can you tell me where you see the error is due to the character, so I can learn how to resolvethese error messages future wise?

i have not yet tried to reproduce the crash on another project sorry i will do so in order to figure out whats going on…

please help me with this, I was able to restore and I re-did a bunch of work and now today upon trying to upon my project the same error is occurring again… it is getting to be very difficult to work

an update to this error as well… if i click on a certain random BP the editor crashes (after removing the main menu and successfully opening the editor), but If I somehow manage to open a BP that doesn’t crash the editor (lucky chance) then all of the other BP’s can be opened and the editor no longer crashes…

When you say “a certain random BP” does that mean you know specifically which BP will cause the crash? If possible, can you provide a copy of the project to me to test the crash locally?

Hey Im so sorry to repopen this, I actullay resolved it. I was running my project from outside the default directory (I was running from the desktop)… running fix up redirectors unlinked the game instance in the editor preferences and linking it back up solved everything. thank yoh for the attention but this is resolved, again… my project successfully compiles now
