Maya 2015 Animation and Rigging Toolkit crashing when building control rig with no error?

As the title describes, I’m running a student version of Maya 2015 and whenever i go to build the control rig (even if i use the default settings for everything) Maya crashes with no error message. Anyone had this before or have a solution?

Hi Zyrus -

Currently The Animation and Rigging Toolkit has not been officially tested with Maya 2015 when it is we will update teh official ART forum thread, here, this is also a great place to check to see if anyone has had similar issues and whether you have the most up to date version of the Toolkit.

All that being said, my first question is have you gotten the newest version of the toolkit from that forum thread, also available, here.

Let me know if you have tried this newest version and we can continue to work on this issue with you,

Eric Ketchum

Hi Eric,

I’ve had downloaded the up to date version, just done it again to clarify the issue. I’ve managed to get the crash log this time. I’ve put the full version on pastebin here: http://pastebin.com/NKqLY7P0

Thanks,

Zyrus

Hi Zyrus -

Thank You for your Crash report. We are looking into this error and I will let you know as soon as we able to reproduce and diagnose the issue.

Same issue here. Was able to fix the window resize bug so i could build the rig. It makes it about 50% through before crashing Maya.

Any update on this? I am reproducing this and it sucks.

Hey Spectronaut -

Unfortunately we have not had much progress as of yet as Mr. Ernst is extraordinarily busy currently and Epic is still using Maya 2014 mostly. That being said I will let him now that this is still a reported issue with Maya 2015. I would also recommend posting this in the ART forums post as we have an active community who may have an answer to this issue, Animation and Rigging Tools: FAQ, Known Issues and Feature Roadmap - Character & Animation - Unreal Engine Forums

You can also keep up with the development of the ART here, DevBlog — Jeremy Ernst

Thank You

Eric Ketchum

Open the JointMover.mb scene inside Maya 2015 and re-save it.

Hey,

I know this is posted as resolved but the fix posted above did not work for me. It was this file that was corrupted (spine01 deleted its self?). In order to fix I had to just grab a fresh file, from a coworker, and replace. Opening and saving did nothing.

Hope this helps,

I have confirmed this fixes the issue. I have no idea why! Thank you Onoa!

hahaha for me it gives me even more errors

“ART_jointMover.py line 539: No object matches name: [‘proxy_geo_spine_01’] #
updateRendererUI;”

and then i get

Error: AttributeError: file General/Scripts\ART_skeletonBuilder_UI.py line 6229: SkeletonBuilder_UI instance has no attribute ‘globalMovers’ #

and every button is grey and freezes. im gonna try import settings and presets to another ART folder.

Edit1;
it didnt work with a fresh start either.

Edit2:
I got it working by pressing Auto world space button first then save rig pose.
with the latest Version of A.R.T
But with some errors:
“Traceback (most recent call last):
…WindowsError: [Error 3] The system cannot find the path specified: ‘C:/Users/Fredrik/Documents/maya/Latest_tool/MayaTools\General\ART\system\.
Aborting Operation. Please correct naming conflict and try again.”

Edit3: it just works some times now… its just pure luck…
