Texture pixelated when painting onto terrain

Hi, I am having an issue that whenever I paint onto the terrain the texture become pixelated. I am using simple colours (no detail in the textures![alt text][1]). It looks very bad and I just want it to fade out, not just stop.

Hey DW123, you need to increase the falloff on your brush. 1 means max blending, 0 is no falloff so you get very solid lines like what you are seeing now.

Hope this helps, Tom.

This happens now with falloff 1. I tried increasing it before posting, didn’t work :frowning:
look at around the rocks.

Thanks for the answer but it doesn’t work :frowning:

Could you post your material and we can see if it’s something in there.

That is all the material is made of.

I just had a little play around and I got some pixalation also.

Try to fill your entire landscape with your grass layer first (Change the brush to component). Once that’s done, try to paint your layers as normal.

I’m not really great with in depth options, how would I change the brush to a component?

You can change it like this

I painted the whole landscape with the brush as a component, then painted as a circle brush. It still looks pixelated!

I think it might be the height part (where your alpha is plugged in).

Try switching to weight blending instead.

Still nothing
I even tried changing the Preview Weight to 0.

I can’t see anything wrong with what you’ve posted. Try with a fresh landscape, then fill with grass and then try painting.

Didn’t help, still pixelated. I did find that if I kept the Layers as a LB Height Blend and disconnected the Alpha from the Height in the Layer Blend node that it does work good enough (in a weird way), it’s like using the smudge tool in photoshop. I’ll stay with that, until there is a way to fix this.

If it feels like it’s smudging turn up the weight to 1 on all layers.
