Widget Editor navigation bugs.

Apart from random crashes from moving elements and attempting undo’s, interaction with the editor is completely unpredictable. When you zoom in it doesn’t zoom in where you point you cursor, you can’t move groups of objects without making a mess, transform gizmos don’t rotate along with their respective elements, if you copypaste the element it doesn’t paste it into the same place and it’s also weird how there’s no option for duplicating elements. I sent the crash reports but the only way to address usability issues is to do it here.

Hello ,

I have a couple of questions to help narrow down the issue you are experiencing.

  1. Can you reproduce this issue in a new project?
  2. If so could you provide a detailed list of steps so that I can reproduce this issue on our end?
  3. Based on the gif you provided, I see that you are using Render Transform and offsetting your individual pieces, is this issue occurring for you if you do not use the render transform?

Based on what I am seeing in your gif, there may be ways around this issue. One way could be to make this image in a separate widget then using the User Created tab in Palette, you can add the image as a whole piece and move it around without the fragmentation you are seeing.

Cheers!

Thanks ,

  1. This works in any project
  2. Create a new widget blueprint. Add a few image components Screenshot by Lightshot. On Render Transform tab rotate each of them 90 degrees Screenshot by Lightshot. Select them all and try moving them around

  1. I need to be able to rotate elements. Is there another way to do it without using Render Transform?

When I add the image as a separate widget one of the pieces inside this widget gets detached for some reason. Screenshot by Lightshot

I have logged a report for it here

You can track the report’s status as the issue is reviewed by our development staff. We will follow up here if this gets fixed, but please be aware that this issue may not be prioritized or fixed soon.

As for the workaround, I am using I simply have two widgets, One that holds the multiple images, and a second that holds the first widget inside of it. In your first widget simply recreate the image as you need, render transforms and all, then compile and save that widget. Then in your second widget find the category User Created in that category will be your first widget which you can then drag into your second widget and move your multiple pieces around without the unexpected behavior you are experiencing. Let me know you still have the issue where one image piece is mislocated
