Crash UE 4.15.2

After the upgrade to version 4.15.2, periodic crashes began. The editor may unexpectedly close while working with it for unknown reasons at any time. The previous version 4.15.1 was more stable. I checked the computer for viruses. No viruses found. Updated all the drivers. Completely removed the engine from the computer, cleaned the folder TEMP. Installed again version 4.15.2. Failures have become less, but the problem has not completely disappeared.Third-party plugins are not used.Only used in some projects. Windows 7 x64, GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming Graphics Card. 8 GB of RAM.

Hey Agni78,

Could you please provide the following information:

  • Are you getting a crash reporter window? If so, please provide the LoginID and ensure to hit Send & Close on the report.
  • Please provide the logs from the project’s Saved->Logs folder that is crashing. (If all projects are crashing, create a clean project and work out of that for the purposes of tracking this crash down)
  • Are you able to reliably reproduce the crash in a clean project? If so, can you provide a detailed list of steps we can follow to reproduce it on our end?

Thanks

I do not always get a crash reporter window.
Today at 18.11 I created a new project ThirdPerson. Opened the ThirdPersonCharacter(Blueprint Class), made changes. Clicked Play, stop. I did not do anything else. 18.52. crash without a report window.

18.54. I created a new project ThirdPerson. Clicked Play, stop. An hour has passed. Made changes the same as last time.Another hour has passed.Nothing happens. The editor works without crash.

It’s hard to find the reason.

Tomorrow I’ll still watch.

We are getting crashes on open with 4.15.2 4.15.1 was stable.

Today I created a new project ThirdPerson. I did not do anything in it. There was a crash. I am hit Send & Close in 18:20
I noticed that if you run two projects at the same time, the possibility of getting a crash increases.

Have a great day

Is it possible this crash after updating BIOS? The reason may be?

We are still investigating the root cause of this issue at this time.

Thank you for your answers.

I have:
CPU_VERSION = Intel(R) Core™ i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming OC
8 GB of RAM.
Windows 7 x64
Motherboard = Z97M-PLUS
BIOS_VERSION = 0327
BIOS_RELEASEDATE = 05/16/2014

I wanted to tell in my opinion important information for developers. About the crashing editor. I used Unreal version 4.15.1. She worked steadily. But then I decided to update the motherboard BIOS to the latest version.
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97MPLUS/HelpDesk_Download/
BIOS_VERSION = 2903
BIOS_RELEASEDATE = 2016/03/25
Then immediately updated Unreal to 4.15.2.

After updating the editor the Unreal Engine did not work consistently.
I reported about it here:

The editor was able to quit my job without a Windows report a crash.
Sometimes the work ended with a blue screen of death. Appeared error.

The recommended steps did not help:
Disabling Real-Time Thumbnails
Running the engine with -opengl4
Using Forward Rendering

then updated the BIOS to version
BIOS_VERSION = 2202
BIOS_RELEASEDATE = 2014/07/25

After upgrading error UE-42280 disappeared. But the editor was also able to stop working without Windows report a crash. And sometimes appeared blue screen of death.

I updated the BIOS to the version I had at the time of purchase of the computer.
BIOS_VERSION = 0327
BIOS_RELEASEDATE = 05/16/2014

The editor began to work steadily without interruption.

Make your own conclusions.
