Is there a way to auto-update specific assets?

Is there already a way for engine to keep an eye on specified assets and re-import them when they have been changed?

This would be a great time saver when editing external bitmaps and meshes.

Is this a feature that can be added?

path can be any absolute path. It doesn’t need do be in content folder. UI will be updated to have a browse option in future. What file type are you trying to reimport? I will double check that it is working here.

Hi Patrick,

In your Editor settings> preferences, there should be a section for “Auto Reimport” where you can set up which directories and assets to auto reimport every time their root changes. Please let me know if that is what you wanted.

Thanks,

Alexander

It looks pretty straight forward, but what should path be? Must it be internal from ‘content’ folder? Could it be somewhere else on my drive? There is no browse option that I can see. I specified folder where my assets are stored (C:\Users\Patrick\Documents\Rocket Projects\MyProject\Content\haus), although, after rewriting file data, changes do not appear in Rocket

Hey guyz! Maybe I just doing something wrong but… it seems auto reimport doesn’t work :frowning:
I’ve set absolute local path to source FBX but after fresh FBX is reexported nothing changes in UE4, I have to manually reimport changed meshes which is huge time killer. Please help…

Hey CryShader,

This is an old Archive post from our beta users, and may contain outdated information. If you have some questions about current state of auto-reimport, please open a new post on AnswerHub so we can address it there with updated information. Feel free to post a link to this post for reference. Thanks!
