Unreal engine will not install

I currently have “No Engine Installed”. When I launch the Unreal window for the first time I view the Library folder which has version 4.2.1 available for install. I click to install and nothing happens.

Hello Kmuszy13,

It appears that you have the same issue that is being reported by another user:

Launcher can't install engine - Getting Started & Setup - Epic Developer Community Forums

Can you confirm that the description the other user provides appears to be the same as yours? If so, we’ll suggest that you remain active on the other post, and we will close this one, so that we can consolidate our efforts to troubleshooting this issue.

Thanks

After talking to a few people I believe it is more a problem with my companies proxy server not allowing the download. Do you have any solutions for dealing with a proxy?

Hi Kmuszy13,

We do not have a solution in place for getting the launcher to function properly from behind a proxy.

Other users have worked around the issue by modifying their proxy to add an exception, as seen in the post linked below.

Is it Possible to login to Unreal Engine behind a proxy that requires HTTP login? - Platform & Builds - Epic Developer Community Forums

If this is not a possible solution for you, let us know and we may be able to work out a temporary solution to get you the binaries and sample projects.

Alternately, you may want to consider pulling the engine source code from GitHub and just working by that approach.

Please let us know.

Our IT department enabled an exception so everything is working as it should.

Thank you for your efforts
