Set Variable in CustomDamageType Class

Hi,

I have tried to understand the damage system in UE 4 but I don’t really understand the DamageEvent in the TakeDamage function I want to pass my dot time with a variable in my CustomDamageType class or is there a better solution? It would be nice, if you could give me a link that can help me to understand it better or show me example code.
