I can't build a new C++ project

whenever I try to build a new C++ project I get the following error:

this just started recently, it didn’t do this before. I’ve seen this question asked elsewhere, but the answers are always very confusing to me. any help?

Install Visual Studio 2015. Make sure you do a Custom Install and select C++ Toolchain (or something similar named they changed it twice in the Installer not sure what they call it now xD). Thats it.

If you encounter more errors like that like Windows SDK 8.1 missing or similar just download and Install it.

Thank you for keeping it simple. I have Visual Studio, but I think it is just the “community version”. Should I uninstall and then re-install?

I already go SDK 8.1, which knocked off one of the errors. thanks again

Nah you can simply run the installer again. I did not run the 2017 Installer yet Im sitting on 2015 atm. But as far as Im aware 2017 has a specific option to Install all requirements for UE4 let me quick check… ahh well look here in the Official Docs they got Updated. Scroll down until 2017:

=/ I hate the MS is always changing their Installers/names every ■■■■■■■ installation you got to figure out where all the things are gone xD

And just in case it still does not work simply install the 2015 Toolchain seperatly http://landinghub.visualstudio.com/visual-cpp-build-tools
