How to make dismemberment for a character?

Seperate the limbs from the torso and make them objects theirself.
Then export every limb with the shared armature.
In UE add the limbs as components.

Hi guys!
So I’ve been struggling a lot searching for months for a good tutorial on how to make a character dismemberment.
For example, you shoot him in the arm, and then his arm comes off.

The problem is, I’ve found how to do it with the UE4 skeleton and premade meshes, but didn’t found a tutorial on how to properly configure a character from 3d max for a good export to UE4 later.

I can cut the character arms and legs in 3d max, but then I can’t find the way to properly import it into UE4.

Is there any tutorial to properly do this?
Or if there is someone who can do it, I would pay you for cutting and setting up everything for importing into UE4, It’s been a nightmare!

Thank you for your answer. Can you please tell me the best way to separate the body parts without breaking the skeleton? I tried to do it but i get skeleton errors in 3d max!

i would make each limb separate actors, but that may not be the best idea ever when animating.

hmm… same problem, but I realized right now one of the ways we can try - just hide a piece, which you want and spawn an actor with the same characteristics.
