Use buttons to cause damage to pawn/actor?

Been working for a few hours in an attempt to get a Pokemon battle style widget to work (Fight, Run, ect). I have a Widget with a fight option and a working HP system. I am just having trouble making it when the button is clicked to do damage. I have tried a few different ways but I keep running into the same problem of targeting other actors or pawn inside of the event graph for the widget.

I don’t like asking for help but I feel as though I am at the end of my rope.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Are you communicating with the right blueprint ?

I have been compiling it all inside the widget event blueprint if that’s what you are referring to.
