Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Office Holiday

Epic Games' offices will be on holiday from June 22nd to July 7th. During this period support will be limited. Our offices will reopen on Monday, July 8th.

Window layout

There are two things I find quite annoying.

  1. Every time I restart a project the window layout on my second screen offsets itself over the boarder of the screen, I have a 2 display setup: The left one displays the editor full screen with tools and scene layout docked, and the right one displays details and the content browser, both windowed.

  2. I would prefer if newly opened windows would automatically dock themself to the panel at the top rather than appear floating on the first screen. (The automatic docking works atm only when you have already one window docked to the top bar)

Hi Christian,

I am attempting to reproduce your first issue, but I am not having much luck. I created a new project, moved my content browser to a second monitor, saved all, exited and then reopened the project. Am I doing something differently? Also, how do you have the two monitors set up? Are you using any monitor-splitting software like Display Fusion?

I have created a report for your feature request.

Thank you,

Alexander

Hey,

I don't use a monitor splitting software. I also tried it again, create new project, save map, re-open. It seems that the windows on my right monitor expand themselves every time I re-open the project. After 2 or 3 re-openings I can't see the bottom of the windows anymore, really weird.

Also, will it be possible in the future to save the whole layout for both monitors not just for one project but in general for the editor? I have to say I found it strange right away that the overall editor layout is bound to the individual projects and not an overarching setting, having to re-customize it every time again and again for each new project is really annoying.

I tested the issue with the wandering browser and it is no longer occurring in our main internal build. So it will be fixed in a future build.

I have created a feature request for "Save UI Layout as Default" and submitted it to our database. The report references this post. If there is anything else that you would like to see changed in future build of Rocket, please let us know.

Thank you,

Alexander

Unfortunately the "window swimming and scaling bug" after editor close and re-open is still present in beta5 as you can see in the attached gif. I still have a two monitor setup, the details and the content browser are placed on my second (right) monitor.

Hi Christian,

Thank you for your report. We are seeing resizing issues with secondary windows as well, this appears to be a regression. A report has been entered into our database by a developer.

Thank you,

Alexander
