Combining leaves and trunk

I’m using “sapling” addon in blender, and when it creates the tree, the leaves are separate from the tree itself (for texturing purposes obviously) … now I import to UE4, and I texture everything, I blueprint to combine the leaves with the trunk, and I can place them one at a time in my world… However, Id like to be able to use the foliage tool to just paint them in, but It doesn’t recognize the blueprint as a foliage type… It does, however, recoginize the leaves and trunk seperately as a foliage type… but painting with that would just be trunks here, and leaves there, randomly all over the place… how can I combine the two and have them place together correctly into the world in the same rotation and size with the foliage brush?

Try combining the meshes into a single mesh and then add them as foliage.

Sorry, really new to all of this… just getting my feet wet… I’m aware that a single mesh can be used as foliage. My question is how to combine them… Can it be done in Unreal? Or will I have to do it in blender?

Both in blender and when you import the FBX. You should do it in blender though.

ok. thank you.
