How do I use a subtractive geometry brush?

Hi,

I’m a beginner on UE4.2 and I don’t know how to have a element ‘subtraction’ when I try to follow UE4 video tutorial ‘Create a level 2’. Anybody has a hint?

Thanks a lot,

widorisan

Hey widorisan,

To use a Subtractive geometry brush, you only need to switch Brush Type in Details panel while brush is selected. If you position Subtractive Brush inside an Additive Brush, it will subtract area from Additive Brush.

You can read more about geometry brushes here:

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Digest in Japanese

Didn’t work for me. Has it changed in UE4.12?

Keep in mind that this will only work with BSPs, which are placed in Geometry section of Modes tab. If you are using a static mesh, this will not work.

im stuck with this too cant seem to get it to cut out ,idk what to do :frowning:

Thanks for tip.

I found that, you need to place your FILL objects first , then add substraction brush (box, cilinder, etc) . If you add another new FILL box, it will NOT be substracted with previously added substraction brush.

From official doc > … “… from previously created additive Brushes.”

Thanks for help
I got stuck too…
