[Bug] UE4 crashes when using the lasso tool

Hello

I think I have found a bug. Everytime when I use the lasso tool to select the foilage that I have place (to delete the foilage) my graphic driver crashes. After some second the driver restarts, and every program is closed. I have already installed the new graphic driver, added UE4 in the “important section” of the graphic driver settings and I also gave all permission of the firewall to the driver and to the UE4, but nothing works. Its still keeps crashing when I use the lasso tool.

My PC specs:

  • Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 Ti
  • 8 Gb RAM
  • Intel Core i5-3570
  • Windows 7

Hopefully you guys can help me to solve that.

Hey Philipp,

What is the driver version for your Nvidia card?

Best Regards,

Ryan

I have the problem with the 314 and 320.49 version of the driver

Is this only with the one project or is this affecting other projects as well. If it is affecting other projects try uninstalling and reinstalling Rocket.

Best Regards,

Ryan

Thats the first thing that I did ^^ Unfortunately the problem is still here, but I think I found out what causes it:

own meshes → crash…
meshes from epic games → works perfectly

Could probably the lightmaps be the problem (because at the moment my meshes dont have one)? Apart from that everything is setup like the models from the demolets.

Is there a way how I can upload a video that shows what happens when I select my meshes with the lasso, because it looks really strange?

yeah, you can added it to the shared FTP.

I have uploaded it into my folder. At 30 sec (when I use the lasso tool) it starts lagging, and after that the driver crashes

I have tried various stuff to solve it, but it’s still crashing when using the lasso tool e.g added collision, removed the materials from the meshes, reinstalled it several times,… Today I will ask one of my friends, which is also in the rocket beta, if he could try it out, probably this just happens with my graphic card… Do you guys have some more suggestions?

Hey can you share that tree or some other asset you’ve made that has the issue so we can see if we can duplicate it that way?

I found out what is causing the problem. I just had to delete the sine node from my material. After that everything worked perfectly.

So I will just add the wind effect after I have set all the foilage → problem solved, thank you Ryan for your help!
