Launcher fails to download specific chunk

Trying to update to 4.2.1. Launcher downloads with great performance, until around 360 MB are left. Then it gets stuck at 0 kb/s and fails. I enabled HttpLog in the config and notice that it fails to download a specific chunk. It is not even possible to download it directly in the browser.

This is the chunk.

Log file is attached. The only thing you’ll see is an ERROR over and over, trying to download this chunk.

Edit*
I’m on 4.2.0. trying to Update to 4.2.1. I get the standard Install Failed message after it has waited at the missing file until timeout.

“Install Failed, Could not download patch data. Please try again later.”

Increasing timeout doesn’t help. It only changes how long the launcher sticks at 0 kb/s and repeats the ERROR in the log.

I am on Windows 7. Using the installed version of the Launcher (not compiled). Desktop PC. (Intel Xeon 2.6 GHZ, 32 GB Ram, NVIDIA Quadro K2000 4GB)

Hi Denny -

What is the exact error message that the launcher gives you when it fails or does it just sit at 360MB with 0/0kBs?

Thank You

Sorry for missing to add information.

Hi Denny -

Had you originally patched 4.2.0 to 4.2.1 before the official Launcher version was released? If you were using the 4.2.1 Hotfix preview, please make sure to remove the applabel: -applabel=Production-HotfixPreview421 from your launcher.

This would cause problems if it is not removed.

Thank You,

Eric Ketchum

I have not used the HotfixPreview, even though I do know of it.

Hi Denny -

Just to confirm you have gone into “C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\Launcher\Engine\Programs\NoRedist\UnrealEngineLauncher\Config\DefaultEngine.ini” and added:

[HTTP]

HttpTimeout=600

HttpConnectionTimeout=120

HttpReceiveTimeout=200

HttpSendTimeout=200

and are still getting the same error message?

Thank You

Eric Ketchum

That was one of the first things I tried and the only thing that happened was that it took longer for the error message to appear. I did it again, just to triple check, and the launcher stops at the same file.

Edit*
You don’t have to hurry to find a solution for my sake. We decided to go with a compiled version of 4.2.1 until 4.3.0 is released, hopefully the launcher issues will be gone for us then.

Keep up the good work. :slight_smile:

Hi Denny,

Looks like your issue is the same as here:-

We are trying to track it down, hopefully we’ll get somewhere soon! Sorry for your issues and thanks for your patience while we figure this out!

Hi Denny,

One of our engineers has issued an invalidation for the two files that appear to be failing for some users.

Could you have another go and let us know? If you still have problems, throw us another log if you don’t mind, in case you hit some other file issues.

Hey man, I already updated to the compiled version at work. I don’t think I can do an update with the launcher now without messing with our stuff?

Going from 4.2.1. Compiled Source to 4.2.1. Launcher that is.

Hi Denny,

Very glad you guys are unblocked. Stick with the compiled version for now since it has you unblocked.

Also, can I get some additional details about your environment? Looking for dxdiag from the machine or machines having the problem. Also any details about the network environment you are on. i.e. standard home modem and router or office environment with additional firewalls, routers, vpn, etc.

I’ll email you directly and we can swap info from there,
