Most typical way to create a game startup screen? ?

We’ve got a game that is starting to near completion. A main thing we’re missing is the beginning. …
Most games have a small graphic video of some sort or what not…and then of course the main menu for the game…

That’s basically what I’d like to create.
What’s the way most designers do that type of thing??
I need all the info I can get like…Are they using a separate game mode and HUD?? And how are the little graphic videos made…I though maybe some of them used adobe after effects and possibly rendered them that way…I’m not sure if you can import videos into unreal 4 or not…

Anyways this is what I’d like to learn to do now. I just don’t know actually where to begin…
If anyone can help me if really appreciate it.

Thank you all for all of the tremendous help you’ve been thus far. We couldn’t have made this game without all of you.

Hi AttemptD,

You may want to try posting something like this over at the Forums as well since this post is more of a discussion the way it is asked.

This is a very broad subject to ask in this way in AnswerHub. You’ve got several different questions rather than a single question that revolves around the topic.

Breaking these up or searching AnswerHub for the individual elements may better suit your needs.

Questions asked:
How do most games design their start screen?
Is there a separate level/game mode/HUD for this?
How do you make videos for use in games?

These are three questions that could really use their own AnswerHub posts or as a discussion in the Forums.

How do most games design their start
screen?

Is there a separate level/game mode/HUD for this?

There are multiple ways to go about this. Commonly this is a separate level that is loaded. You can see this in the ShooterGame example from Marketplace. There is a separate map if you open that is the HUD and start screen.

How do you make videos for use in
games?

There are several discussions on the forums and posts on the AnswerHub that have already addressed this.

Thank you!

Tim

OK will do. Thank ya Tim!
