Unreal Engine 4 immediately closes after launching a project

Hey guys, I just got UE4 today but when I tried to start up a project UE4 just closes. It doesn’t give me a crash report, it just closes as soon as I attempt to open or create any project. I downloaded UE4 4.2.1, do you think I need to download earlier versions to make it work?

I’m sorry to hear that you are having this issue. And no, an earlier version is unlikely to help.

So just to be clear, the UE4 Launcher runs successfully. But when you click the yellow “Launch” button, nothing happens? Or does it load the “Project Browser”, and then when you choose a project from there it closes?

When you run the Windows Task Manager, do you see UE4Editor.exe listed? Does it go away when everything closes?

Finally, can you please save your Dxdiag report, and attach it here?

Yes, it closes right after I choose to open a project in the project browser. The UE launcher stays and the UE4Editor.exe does go away when everything closes.

I’ve attached a text document of my dxdiag report. On a side note though, I never knew that you could do that! The dxdiag that is. It’s kind of cool. :slight_smile:

I am also having the same problem with UE4 4.2.1

@DigiMan572, apologies for the delay in response. We are aware of crashes that can occur with the Intel(R) HD Graphics Family series of cards, and it is possible this could be related. Can you please ensure that you are updated to the latest driver version for your card? This has been known to fix some issues.

@Reckzilla, please also provide your DxDiag report, and we will attempt to troubleshoot.

That worked perfectly thank you for much. PS, sorry I haven’t come back in awhile. Trying to get school started and all that stuff. Thanks again for your help. :smiley:
