[Bug]Matinee always records at origin

No matter what I do or where I place my camera it always records from the origin. I don’t understand if I am missing something because I never had this issue in udk. I am pretty sure this is a bug. If not I’d really love some clarity

Thanks

Are you using Relative to World or Relative to Initial ?

UE4 doesn’t have that option and if it does it’s not where it was in UDK.

Hi Alex,

I am looking into this issue. Can you give me some more details about your matinee set up? Do you have a director group? Can you make any matinees that work or are all matinees experiencing this? Please let me know any additional details so that I can investigate the problem further.

Thank you,

Alexander

i tried this with the effects demo the other days, i found the matinee actor and click on the create film and got what Alex posted eg a recording from the origin !!, any updates on this

Hi George,

Thank you for reporting this issue. I am working on creating a reproduction for our developers to look at, but there are some details that I still need in order to create a more complete report. Could you please provide for me a screenshot of the matinee you are recording and Level Blueprint driving it? Any additional details that you can provide may help in my investigation.

Thank you,

Alexander

I don’t have level anymore but I was using a blank level, just try using matinee and it happens from what I could figure out.

Hi Alex,

I am trying to reproduce this, but I have not been able to get the error with my matinee setup. Did you have a director group driving your camera? How was the event to start your matinee set up in the level Blueprint? Are you using Record or Movie from matinee? Once I have this information, I will be able to determine where the error is occurring.

Thank you,

Alexander

as mentioned using the effects demo + default cave map, i wanted to test the recording system then replay it on a HD tv, i opened the matinee selected movie and set the screen size to 640x480 just to check but no joy, heres a pic

Hi George,

I looked into the effects sample and can confirm that it does record movies, but the matinee is triggered by a custom event. After launching the movie capture from matinee, make sure to trigger “CE Play” via console command. When recording a Movie in matinee, the level Blueprint still has to trigger the Matinee to begin. The easiest way to set that up is using the “Event ReceiveBeginPlay” node to trigger a “Play Matinee”, so that it begins automatically. Please let me know if this has resolved this issue for you.

Thank you,

Alexander

Clicking “Play On Level Load” in Matinee properties also starts the sequence without bothering with level blueprint and lets you record movie. This can be preferable only if you want a quick way to capture footage though.

Thank you Alexander that worked a treat, i’ll try at higher res tomorrow
