Problem with 'Setting Up Visual Studio for UE4

I tried to set the ‘Max Cached Translation Units’ (as per this guide: Setting Up Visual Studio for Unreal Engine | Unreal Engine Documentation) but it is greyed out and unchangeable for me. What could be the problem?

Hi Crafty,

Have you disabled the Visual Studio code database (Tools -> Options -> Text Editor -> C/C++ -> Advanced -> Browsing/Navigation -> Disable Database)? I noticed that when I disabled the database, most of the other options in the Advanced section of the C/C++ options are grayed out, including the Max Cached Translation Units option.

Hi ,

I haven’t disabled that, no.

Just so I know what you are using, which version of Visual Studio are you using- Express, Pro, or Ultimate?

Ultimate.

Can you take a screenshot of all of your current Advanced settings?

Yeah, I’ll do that. Thanks.

Unfortunately I cannot see any reason for that one option to be inaccessible. It may be a good idea to check with Microsoft support to see if they may know what is happening here.

Just disable the “Auto Tune Max Cached Units” option and you’ll be free to set the value on your own.

Hi NotNull,

My version of VS 2013 Professional does not have that option. Is that option only available in Ultimate?

This worked for me on 2013 CE. Thanks

your Auto Tune Max Cached Translation Unit is set to true you need to set it to false
