Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Horrible stuttering in Unreal Engine games

I've noticed that with my pc, there is horrible stuttering in Unreal engine games. For example, in both Life is Strange and Styx Shards of Darkness (Unreal Engine 3 and 4), there is absolutely horrendous stuttering in certain parts of the game. What I mean by stuttering is that the frame rate would just tank for a few seconds for absolutely no apparent reason and then shoot back up. When this happens, the game hitches/stutters really badly for a few seconds momentarily before fixing itself. In Life is Strange, for example, one second, I'm playing the game at 144 fps, and then all of a sudden, when I reach a certain part of the game, the frame rate would just tank down to 110 or so for a split second, and then immediately shoot back up to 144, causing a horrible stutter - it's almost like a freeze. Here's a video of my issue:

That issue in Life is Strange - I can recreate 100% of the time. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Oh, and to add, if I try a game that's using a different engine, like CryEngine, I don't encounter the problem.

My specs:

4770k @ 4.4 | Corsair H105 | MSI GTX 980ti GAMING 6G | Asus Maximus VI Hero | Corsair 1200W PSU | 16 GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series @ 2133 | Asus PG278Q

what about sound quality? because the stutter starts when they are going to speak.

Sound quality is fine. I've never had any sound issues in any of my games.

What's your disk read speed?

I'm running the game from an SSD, so I'm assuming that's probably not the issue here?
