Bug? Dual monitor framerate

Hello!

I noticed something odd, when I threw my blueprint screen to my 2nd monitor: the framerate of the primary monitor dropped from 170 to around 40, which sounds bit too heavy to be true (especially when main monitor is 1650x1050p, and secondary is 1370x720p). What could cause this?

Main monitor is set up from my GPU, secondary monitor is wired up from my mother board. Could this somehow cause problems? Is it hardware or software issue?

Hoping for answers, -DoctorPC

Howdy DoctorPC,

Thank you for your bug report. If possible, could you provide your DXdiag so that we may further investigate?

Thanks and have a great day!

I’m sorry to ask, but how do you open your Dxdiag? Tried to find it from stats. with no success. (right now it seems to drop 50-90 frames, depending on complexity of the blueprint. 50 was measured from completely empty one. same numbers for blueprint being on the same screen are 30-50 frames).

In windows, click on the Start button in the bottom left and under Search programs and files, search for Dxdiag and select the top choice. When the new popup shows your specs, Select the Save all information and then you should be able to attach that file here for me to look at.

Thanks!

Hey DoctorPC,

Have you tried plugging both of your monitors into the GPU? If so, What was your framerate showing?

well, the thing is, that the 2nd monitor is on VGA (what would you expect for 15$ monitor, lol) , and 290x happens to not have a VGA slot. But the thing is, if I have all my UE4 windows on my second screen (which is supposedly run by this… CPU? (tried googling, the Intel HD 4600 has always been a mystery for me :). ), I get around 110-120fps (which shouldn’t happen, looking at your system requirements), and if I do it the other way around (blueprint’s for GPU, editor for intel) I get aprx. the same results as the “More sensible” way of doing things. Sure blueprint edior should be faster than realtime-rendered game window (this engine isn’t unity ;).) Maybe the blueprint editor opens up another, inrendered instance of the level editor?

Hey DoctorPC,

Your best bet may to shop around for a vga converter so that your second monitor can then be compatible to your GPU. I have looked at the system specs for the Intel HD 4600 and here are the results: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Intel+HD+4600. Here are what the recommended specs for running UE4 are: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+470. As you can see by comparing these, the Intel HD 7600 is well below what we recommend.

Thanks!
