[Mac] Viewport flight camera controls don't match Windows or documentation

The Viewport Controls documentation in the Standard section list the following:

RMB + Drag -> Rotates the viewport camera

In the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad section the following is listed:

RMB + Drag or 2 Finger Click + Drag -> Rotates the viewport camera
1 Finger Touch + Drag or 2 Finger Touch + Drag -> Rotates the viewport camera

The expected result of RMB + Drag is that the viewport camera will rotate.
The actual result of a RMB + Drag is left/right and up/down movement with no rotation

This behavior is observed with a Magic Mouse or a standard mouse.

Steps to reproduce:

  • open the Unreal Editor on Mac
  • right click and drag in the viewport and observer the incorrect behavior

Hi ,

I tried to reproduce this on a Mac here, but when I used RMB + Drag in the viewport, it rotated the camera as expected. Do you see this happen in a new test project? Are you using the binary Editor installed through the launcher, or did you build the Editor from source code? Also, this may be a silly question, but did you make sure your viewport is displaying the Perspective view, and not one of the Orthographic views?

Hello ,

We have not heard back from you for a while. I will be marking this post as resolved for tracking purposes, but please feel free to add a comment and re-open the post if you have any additional information.

I am experiencing the same thing - altho’ for me using magic mouse works fine, but using macbook built in touchpad with two finger click set to right click move camera just up/down left/right movement no rotation.

I had this problem as well with my Magic Mouse and Trackpad, and strangely enough turning bluetooth off/on fixed it for me. Really happy to have this resolved as it was a huge roadblock.

See this forum post for a video showing the problem + solution.
