Monitor getting darker when running UE 4.16

So I started using UE when the engine was at 4.14. I played around with it for a little bit and everything was working perfectly fine, then because I didnt have much time I stopped using it. Now I come back to it and just installed 4.15 and 4.16. The engine works perfectly on 4.14, yet if I try running 4.15 or 4.16 the screen gets dark so that you can barely see anything, I looked at the brightness of it and the values are the default ones, yet the screen is clearly more dark then when running UE 4.14 or just starting the PC.

I downloaded the versions by opening the unreal launcher → library → add versions.

Is the brightness not correct on a level you created or on a default level? Does it reproduce the problem on a new project based on the provided templates?

I’m not talking about levels. When I launch Unreal 4.15 or 4.16 the launcher opens, it loads a bit and then the whole screen goes black so that you can barely see anything. In order to revert it I need to restart PC. Again, this only happens in 4.15 or 4.16, 4.13 works perfectly fine. Maybe there was a error while updating?

Yes (I’m using windows 10). I tried uninstalling the version, not the entire engine. I will wait till the next update and will update it, if it does the same i guess i will uninstall unreal and install it again

I see, thank you for your info. I just hope they will fix this soon, since I’m sure the PC should run the engine without any problems. If you find something please send me a message. Thanks for your time

Perhaps, definitely try uninstalling and reinstalling as usual. I am trying to search for anyone else who had this problem atm. Other question, are you using Windows 10 by any chance?

Without any more info I cannot guarantee that this is the problem but these black screen issues seem to be common for windows 10. Many times related to an error with the graphics intensive applications. I have found a few bugs that were fixed with 4.16, but they do not relate to your particular case. I’ll keep looking and hope you have luck soon.

Just wanted to say I occasionally get this. It seems like the monitor’s color profile gets changed or messed up somehow. Usually, I can just turn my monitor off/on or I can go in and actually toggle the color profile to get things back to normal too. I do have 2 monitors using two different color profiles, so that could be part of the reason.
