Player falls through landscape

When using a new landscape, the collision with the player works great. However, after sculpting a mountain-like terrain, the player disappears upon colliding with certain parts of the landscape (normally the lower, flatter parts.) I have tried this with several projects, with several landscapes, several landscape size and resolution adjustments. I have tried using imported height maps, starting from scratch and setting the landscape collision to “block all.” Nothing seems to work.

Any chance you can record this? My first guess was your player reached the KillZ volume. Second guess would be step size 2 low. So yeah, recording would be awesome! <3

I’M having the same problem ,but in 4.19.2, with a old terrain still evolving.
I know this is slightly old, but approrpiate nonetheless, unless I should post new, fine just let me know.

So far its just a few areas, plus one area where terrain is not visible and player falls through there too.

I also notice, not all ‘tiles’ of terrain( components) are the same color, and sometimes as I sculpt, a ‘opening’ in terrain occurs at intersecting points.

PLs see images, would LOVE to know whats going on…this is a dev-stopper ,if I can’t rely on terrain I can’t plan changes and be assured of success.

ty for any help on this.

Click the Build button. It will rebuild geometry, shadows and get rid of those corners.

TY mucho, the lines are all gone, so thats a huge relief,BUT I still have 2 spots , on entire terrain so Thats a incredible stat (good thing), where player still falls through.

ITs more than that though, sometimes the player, on ‘start here’ actually winds up on level terrain area…way way far from the original spot player should have,so is that indicative of something else, possibly tied into the few areas where player falls thru ?

How do I fix the remaining problem therefore where player is falling through those areas ?

TY again :))

Going to try resample terrain without changing anything else and see if that helps…

Didn’t work.oddly after it finished,I had no more terrain left, ofc I had a backup LOL

Anyway , why does resampling without changing any values remove the terrain ?

I"ve tried everything, and ofc I could place a thin mesh on top of area where the falling through occurs and should work, but that seems like a ridiculous ‘fix’ for a otherwise perfect engine, so I hope somebody has some idea, the silence on this issue is frankly disturbing.

ty

Alright well, I exported terrain and imported with exacting values into Lymberyard by Amazon, and the areas I checked had NO player fall through unlike in unrealengine 4.

The only thing that makes sense, is there is some bug that maybe epic isn’t willing to work on given its only affecting a few----and/or my playercharacter has some setting I"m not seeing, affect this in only 3 areas on terrain…Highly doubtful…makes no sense…

Whatever it is,I have no patience for it.
