Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

How can I choose build platforms before downloading?

In earlier versions of the engine, there used to be an options that lets you choose which platforms you want and whether you want the templates, the starter content, etc before downloading but now I can't find that anywhere.

I really need that options as I'm on a metered connection and I don't want to download anything but what I need.

Hey AdhamT,

After you click Install in the launcher, when you're choosing the install location, there's also an "Options" button, which pops up options to let you select which parts of the engine you want to install.

Options button in install dialog

Hope this helps!

Do you know how to do the same thing under ubuntu, please?

Unfortunately, the launcher isn't supported on any Linux platform, so there's no way to select platforms like this. When running on Linux, you should clone UE4 from the official github repo and build locally.
