In earlier versions of the engine, there used to be an options that lets you choose which platforms you want and whether you want the templates, the starter content, etc before downloading but now I can’t find that anywhere.
I really need that options as I’m on a metered connection and I don’t want to download anything but what I need.

After you click Install in the launcher, when you’re choosing the install location, there’s also an “Options” button, which pops up options to let you select which parts of the engine you want to install.

Do you know how to do the same thing under ubuntu, please?
Unfortunately, the launcher isn’t supported on any Linux platform, so there’s no way to select platforms like this. When running on Linux, you should clone UE4 from the official github repo and build locally.
