Is Core i5 2nd Gen Enough For Running UE4 4.16?

Actually I’m Gonna Buy A I5 2nd Sandy bridge Dell Pc With 8Gb of Ram And For Gpu Em Gonna Go With A Gtx 750(1GB).
And Other Specs Like Mobo Or Psu Which I think Are Not Important Here ? So i Wanna Know If These Specs Are Enough For Game Development ? Em Gonna Make A Android Open World Game In Which There Isn’t Gonna Be So Much Of Foliage Or Things Which Are Cpu OR Gpu Intense So Em I Good With These Specs ? Because I Have Read That i7 Sometimes Isn’t Enough

I can tell you this, UE4 can “run” on very low hardware that most people don’t even expect to run, i’m running it on Core2Quad Q9300 and GF9600GT… this is not a joke. So if you ask if you spec gonna “run” the UE4? Defenitly without slight issue. So it’s only matter of how fast it will run and how comftible it will be for you and whatever something is “enough” here depends on your preference. You definitely able to develop something on UE4 with that spec… definitly in better envrament then on my current PC (which i upgrade very soon ;p)

But considering you plan of devlop something on Android aspecially if it’s ES2 you should be fine with that spec , the spec mention above run early mobile demos even in 50FPS (since my laucher broke i didnt test any more demos). UE4 eats a lot of ram it’s main performance killer if you have small ram i got 4GB and it’s not enough, it kills other application momentarily, not sure if 8GB will do the job enough.

i5 will work so smoothly that you will actually cheer at intel. 1gb gpu is gonna give you some problems tho i think

Thanks Bro. Em Gonna Go With A 8Gb Or May be 12 Gb If Ram Is Gonna Be An issue.

Thanks. I Probably Will Upgrade My Gpu To Gtx 1060.
But Right Now I Don’t Have Enough Budget.
Do You Have Any Suggestion For Gpu ?
Under 120$

unless you find THE REAL DEAL, any GPU under 120$ will not be an upgrade for you, or if yes it will not be worth the cost anyway. I suggest you to wait for a bigger budget and go for 1060 but watch out!!! take the 6bg one! the cost is aroun 200/250$ right now but it’s really worth it.

Thank You For Suggestion. I Really Appreciate It

I had 8gb for a long time. Works like a charm. I have Unreal, the Launcher Blender, Gimp/ Krita and Chrome with 3 tabs open now and I’m at 5gb. I upgraded only, because Substance Designer eats RAM for breakfast. I doubt you will hit that 8gb with a mobile project though. <3

@Ninjin i was wondering if substance is capable of hitting those 8gb ALONE. Cause i really would like to start using that.
My specs : Intel Core i5-4460 3.20GHz
8.00GB RAM
Geforce GTX 1060 6gb

@ninjin Thanks Bro Then I Hope Em good With 8Gb :D.

Depends with what resolution you are working, the bigger your graph and the bigger your texture resolution the more it uses. Some of the example graphs you get from Substance Share can take up to 4gb when you switch to 2k resolution. So, if you go for that 4k you can hit it, but again, always depends on your graph. You can go way under that with smaller graphs, there is also a lot to optimize in Substance Designer when working with Noise Textures for example.

Btw, we got the same CPU, you actually paired that CPU with a Geforce GTX 1060 6gb? Which motherboard? I got Gigabyte H97-HD3, wonder if I could do that :3

i have an old asrock B85M-DGS. everything works fine for me. Unreal is very smooth even with big project and for example i play Darks Souls 3 and Metal Gear Solid V at 60 FPS

btw ty for the reply you totally deserve the upvote =D
