Is it possible to export 3rd Person model & rigs from UE4 to blender?

Hello, I’ve successfully imported my own rigged character and animations and got them working with blend spaces, but I’m not too amazing at animating. So I’d like to export the 3rd person model and it’s rig/animations to blender if possible, to see how much I could learn from it’s setup.

I have managed to export models as .Fbx from UE4 to Blender, but I have not yet been able to find a guide on exporting models/rig/anims together from UE4 to Blender.

Is this even possible or am I el stupido?

As far as I know you can import .fbx files, by

  1. Export the .uasset as .fbx

  2. Import it in Blender

Your rig will be lost.

So there’s no way to keep the old rig? That blows.

Save your .blend files…always!

Hi ,

You can export an animation with the rig intact, however, all controls will be lost (as you would expect).

Just open up the Animation Sequence from your Content Browser, and click Export in the new window. Select the export destination and press “Yes” to the next prompt that asks you “Would you like to export the current skeletal mesh with the animation(s)?”.

Export From UE4

Open in Max/Maya

Now that this is done, you can import the new FBX in Max/Maya and start playing around!

UE4 really got poor support for blender , cuz it’s free?
