Does the vegetation brush automatically instance models?

If not, how can I accomplish that? Would it improve performance at all?

Vegetation Brush? If you mean the Foliage Tools that you can find under Modes->Foliage, then yes it does. It will do hardware instancing like Instanced Static Meshes and Hierarchical Instanced Static Meshes, but it’s actually it’s own class called FoliageInstancedStaticMesh. Is that what you wanted to know <3
