Importing fbx does not bring up the fbx dialog when trying to reimport into the same folder

I have a skeletal mesh with all of it’s animations in a folder and when I try to import the updated file back into the folder it does not bring up the fbx import dialog window. Works fine on 4.16 but not in 4.17
When adding the file to a new, empty folder it works fine.

Not yet, been doing other things, kind of hoping it’ll get fixed in the next update.

This needs to be fixed ASAP. I found a workaround, but it is less than ideal… No, it is painful and tedious. You will need to import the FBX file into new folder first, then replace the existing assets with the new ones with “replace references” functionality.

when should be out 4.18 more or less?

This is a feature that you can enable in the editor preferences (General - Miscellaneous - Import), under the option labeled “Show Import Dialog at Reimport”. This will allow the window to show up again when you reimport.
