Selective detach?

Is it possible to only detach from specific scene components or actors? In VR I attach two cones together, then grabbing the new combined object I attach all of the cones that were attached together to the hand (so I don’t just rip one off). When I let go I want all the cones previously attached to stay attached and then all detach from the hand. My issue is detach will remove them from everything, so they all fall apart when I drop the cone. Is this possible or do i need to go through each cone and reattach them all together?
