Billboard/Impostor LOD for Skeletal Mesh?

Is it possible to use a billboard/impostor plane as an LOD for a skeletal mesh?

Goal: Use a flipbook material to animate a sprite sheet on a billboard/impostor as LOD3 for a skeletal mesh.

Problem: UE4 “Failed to Import” error when attempting to import the LOD to the skeletal mesh.

I’ve searched on AnswerHub/Google, can’t find anything.

Perhaps creating a pseudo “skeletal mesh” with eg only 1 bone, and the image? :thinking:

Been so many years since I posted this question! I have a feeling I abandoned the idea. I honestly don’t remember what this was for… 6 years is a long time. :slight_smile:
