Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Unreal 4.15.3 and 4.16.2 completely freezes computer, causing a force shut down

Hi all,

I'm relatively new to Unreal but have been using it for the last few months and love it. I'm running it via Bootcamp off a 2017 iMac; Windows 10, 32 GB RAM, AMD RADEON R9 M395X, 4.2 GhZ Intel Core i7-6700K CPU. It recently started freezing up, regardless of what project I'm running. I've updated everything, tried 4.16.2 to see if it was an internal problem with UE4. Windows is up to date, and so is Bootcamp. I thought that maybe it was a corrupt asset within a specific project, but I've tried blank projects as well and nothing seems to prevent the freezing. I can't provide a crash report either because I have to force shut down the computer every time it happens. I'm not really sure what to do, I've looked across this site and haven't found a solution yet. I'm thinking it might be a problem with the graphics card, because it refuses to update - even though I read somewhere that Unreal should be able to account for that without any problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
