Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Search through (particle) assets as text

When you do a diff on a particle asset it brings up a human readable text file that you can search through. Is there any way to search through a group of assets as text? I have to track down all the assets that are using a particular module that is crashing, and having to open each file individually is very time consuming. I don't want to edit the text file, just search through a group of them. Even just batch exporting them as text would be helpful.

Thanks, Mike D.

1 answer: sort voted first

Ok, I just found my own solution:

  • Go to the top level of the content browser

  • Do a filter on the type of asset you want to search.

  • Select all those assets.

  • Right click on one of the selected assets.

  • Go to Asset Actions -> Bulk Export

  • Export to a folder as T3D files.

  • Text search to your heart's content.
