What is the big red line in the middle of a shot?

I’m trying to re-create the animation from the cinematics with sequencer series from the unreal engine tutorials , clearly it is made with an earlier version of unreal.I went to the master sequence, and pressed on shot one.I know the red line is the end of the shot , green is the beginning,(green arrow and blue arrow),but I don’t know what is up with this big red line (silver arrow),it just stops the play

back from continuing.Does anyone know how to get rid or move the big red line? Also what is the purpose of the yellow brackets(marked with purple arrow).

The big red line (your silver arrow) is the frame that the Master cuts into on Shot_01. To understand that further, when you drill down into and out of a shot, the overall time should stay the same. So, if you set the time marker (yellow arrow) on the big red line, and then pop back to the Master, the time marker should be at the end of Shot_01 in the Master sequence.

The thin red line (blue arrow) is technically the end of Shot_01. From the Master, you’ll most likely want to stop at this bound. If you drag the shot to be longer than that, the Master will show a dimmed region (meaning there’s nothing to be evaluated there).

The yellow lines (purple arrows) indicate the selection region. You can set the selection region with the hotkeys i and o. You can do a few things with the selection region, like select the keys within it. Or playback loop that region in the editor (I think this is only in 4.17 though).

Hope that helps.
