Download marketplace plugins for compiled engine versions?

Hi,

Is there any way to download plugins externally somehow from the marketplace for use with versions of the engine compiled with source?

As I understand, plugins downloaded through the Epic Games Launcher are stored in the vault folder, but it will only do that if there is already a version of UE4 which is downloaded through the launcher.

The only version of the engine which we are using here is not connected to the epic games launcher, and I was hoping to avoid downloading an entire new version of the engine through the launcher just to download a plugin off the marketplace. Are there any other options?

Hi, aashishvasu, have you found a way to do this?

This is an old question, but I am also looking for a way to do this…

The only way I found to do this is to download the plugin to a version of the engine downloaded from the launcher, then manually copy it over. Pretty roundabout, but that’s the only way I could do it.

Yea you need to copy them over, launcher don’t support sourced UE4

Yeah I did that, it was giving me an error saying that the binaries for the plugin didnt match the engine version, they are both 4.19.2. I spent some time recompiling and that didnt seem to work, then I recompiled one more time and it appears to have worked now lol

Edit: am making this the answer for now, since nothing better has come up.

This appears to be the only solution for Linux builds of the engine as well. Binary and Source versions. Epic needs to solve this especially since the launcher is not supported on Linux.
