Way to increase range of Distance Field

I have a problem modulating range of Distance Fields.
In various samples it appears that meshes have much wider range than with my meshes, like other have like exact range as with of bounding box and mine only 1/5 of that.
I tried various parameters but none gave me expected results.
Here is what I’ve got (green gradient is actual range, red is modulated by frac node)

It looks like ranges are mush wider.

I forgot to mention that I know I can use Global DistanceField Distance - which it seams to do exactly what I need but sometimes it tends to act weird and also it appears to degrade quality a lot.
