Using Marketplace assets without the need for the Epic Launcher?

Never Mind. I figured it out.

Hello!

Let me first start by saying that the last Wednesday through Friday were extremely trying for me. I spent a good portion of time outside of work attempting to install UE4 on my desktop computer. [Windows 10; i5-7600k; 16GB ram; AMD 7800]

The Epic Launcher was getting caught in a Verify/install loop that eventually caused fluctuating Memory and Kernel errors that I couldn’t replicated reliably and crashed my computer in the new BSOD fashion multiple times, resulting in a lot of time spent attempting to diagnose problems that I found ultimately didn’t exist.

I spent many hours attempting to troubleshoot this problem as best as I could [I’m a low-tier IT professional] and eventually followed every one of the “fixes” that I could find on the forums for the launcher/verify loop/memory/crash errors, as well as attempting to diagnose the problems as though they weren’t related to the Epic Launcher. Ultimately, though, I nearly fell asleep in this endeavor, and accidentally stumbled on to UE4.16 having already been installed on my system in the location indicated through the launcher, and that it worked fine, so long as I don’t let the launcher start trying to verify again.

After the fiasco, I have actually enjoyed learning how to use UE4 since late Friday evening, and will continue to do so. My next problem, however, comes in the form of attempting to get marketplace addons, textures and animations mostly, in to the engine without using the launcher, which still thinks that the Engine isn’t on my computer (Even though it is now showing the various projects that I have started)

I have made a few of the free purchases, but I’m finding that they won’t download unless they are attached to an engine or a project (again, the launcher seems to falsely think that the computer is without UE4, and therefore won’t allow the download or inclusion of these elements) Is there any way to download these add ons outside of the launcher, and a file location inside the root directory where I might place them so as to use them?

I’m really not keen on wasting much more of my time trying to fix the launcher, which seems to be more of a hindrance than it is useful, if I don’t have to.

Would you mind sharing how you fixed it?

Sorry for the delayed response, I’m a weekend warrior when it comes to the my Game Dev hobby.

I had downloaded the object packages through Epic Launcher and opened their location using the content browser in the Editor, but I couldn’t get the ARTv1 working in the same fashion.

Unfortunately, after I had worked with the object packages that I had downloaded (the infinity blade landscapes and characters), the next time I tried to open the Unreal Editor, which was this morning, my projects seem to have disappeared. I need to go look for them.

so you did not figure out how to download the packages without the epic launcher.
