World Composition

Hi,

I’ve been trying to wrap my head around something concerning the imported size of tiled heightmaps. So I’ve read here: A new, community-hosted Unreal Engine Wiki - Announcements - Epic Developer Community Forums that landscapes base unit is 100cm(100UU) per vertex.

But when I divide my heightmap in different tiles 505x505 each representing a 3.5km square and import them at 100% scale ( I also read here that this is best left below 100% to avoid wonky behavior on your landscape) It is imported as a 50500cm = 505m square tile. ( I can see the map size in km on world composition and this is the given size for each tile.

Isn’t it supposed to be a factor 100 bigger when taking into account that one landscape vertex is 100cm or am I ussing my maths wrong? Also if this is correct it seems weird to me that for my landscape ( 125x75km) I would have to make a whopping 375 tiles of 500m each to achieve my landscape considering my landscape isn’t the biggest out there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Greetz,
W.
